Console Management The Console Management feature is a major aid which will enable your operations staff to be reactive to events occurring on your Stratus system. Important messages are highlighted giving you the ability to intelligently display all your system’s error, hardware, security and application logs on a single device, in a meaningful and enhanced way. This is particularly important in a multi-module environment. The RoSE_PC interface can be used to perform further audiovisual alerts when important messages are detected. All log messages, from multiple logs, are collated and displayed on a single screen where:
RoSE_COMB presents your entire system's errors on a single device eradicating the need for a battery of terminals, which are prevalent in many installations. |
Resource Usage Account Management
RoSE_COMB gives you the ability to accurately charge users and departments for the
computing power
that they are consuming on your Stratus systems.
Reports are produced detailing the use of resources. These reports could be used, for
example, as the basis
of a Project Charging system. The usage of resources is analysed by: Process, Device,
User and group.
The statistics produced relate to CPU usage, paging and disk activity. In addition
reports are produced
which detail disk space usage, broken down by owning user /group, file ages and
sizes. This will give you
all you require to build a comprehensive billing system.
File Selection Management- Archiving
RoSE_COMB allows users to select files from the directory hierarchy using
comprehensive SQL-type
criteria. For example, all files matching the name "*.old" that are over 10 blocks in
size and have not been
modified during the last month could be selected. The resulting list of files can
then be used as a save
control file to archive those files to tape or as a control file for any user macro,
to move the files to a less
critical disk and link to them automatically. This list of files can most importantly
be used to initiate a
deletion process. This whole operation can be performed automatically and scheduled
for a convenient
time.
